  Doug Smith enters his second year as men's golf coach at LeTourneau University

  Smith, currently the golf pro at The Challenge at Oak Forest, was a four-year lettermen golfer at the University of Nebraska, in which he was the third Cornhusker to achieve as many letters in golf during a collegiate career. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska, before officially turning pro.

  He was the 1978 Nebraska State Match Play Champion and turned professional in August of that same year. In 1983, Smith was the Metro-Chapter Assistant’s Champion in the Northern Texas PGA.

  Smith is no stranger to the golf courses in Texas. He was an Assistant Golf Professional at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, Texas, before becoming the Director of Golf at The Club at Mission Dorado in Odessa, Texas. He also served as Head Golf Professional at Las Colinas Country Club and King’s Creek Golf Club.

  Smith, who will continue to work as the golf professional at The Challenge at Oak Forest, is married to wife, Linda and has one daughter, Chessie. He is also the grandfather of Bonnie, Katherine, David and Camryn.
