Aircraft Systems Major

  • Aircraft technician - licensed to work on everything from a Piper Cub to a Boeing 747
  • Technical writer - write the procedures and technical data used by aircraft technicians and pilots
  • Corporate aviation or airline company trainer - train others on the specifics of maintaining complex aircraft
  • Airline Maintenance Scheduler - coordinate the complex maintenance procedures routinely performed on airliners

Computer Science Concentration

  • Engineer for aircraft electronic systems manufacturing, aviation simulation software designing, and avionics manufacturiSimulation manufacturer
  • Airline database manager

Electronic Systems Concentration

FYI: Grads of this concentration are aggressively recruited for engineering jobs.
  • Engineer / designer for avionics supplier - Aircraft manufacturers usually purchase avionics subsystems from third-party suppliers.  These supplier companies need people who are skilled in both aviation and electronics.
  • Designer / engineer / technician for aircraft completion center - Completion centers install custom interiors, avionics and entertainment systems in every type of aircraft imaginable.  They have high demand for employees knowledgeable in both aviation and electronics.
  • Designer / technician / manager for avionics specialty shop - These shops specialize in upgrades and refurbishment of avionics systems in small aircraft.

Air Traffic Control Major

Graduates of the AT-CTI program are eligible to bypass the Air Traffic Basics Course, which is the first five weeks of qualification training at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. (FAA.gov)
  • Air traffic controller in an airport tower - guide aircraft as they take off or land and taxi from or to the gate.
  • TRACON controller - guide aircraft approaching and departing airports within 30- to 50-mile radius up to 10,000 feet, as well as aircraft flying over that airspace.
  • Enroute controller - guide airplanes flying at high altitudes through large sections of airspace

Air Traffic Management Major

With the four year degree and a test score of 75.1 or higher on the Air Traffic Controller Aptitude Test you will be admitted to controller training at the FAA Academy at Oklahoma City, OK. A four year college degree can be substituted for the general experience employment requirement. Graduates of the AT-CTI program are eligible to bypass the Air Traffic Basics Course, which is the first five weeks of qualification training at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. (FAA.gov) With a four year degree in Air Traffic Management, you will find opportunities  to advance in leadership and management in the FAA, and can move into research and development.
